| history |
| Born August 21, 1980 in Hampstead, London, Winnifred was the only child of noted chef James Alexander Edwards and his American wife Dorothy. From the moment he laid eyes on his baby daughter, James was smitten and for the first year of Winnifred's life he was barely seen in his resturant, instead he devoted all his energies into raising his little girl. Winnifred for her part was as attached to her father as he was to her - her earliest memories are all of spending time with her father in the family kitchen and him teaching her about food - and it wasn't until she began attending school that problems began to arise. Thanks to the efforts of her mother, Winnifred could read by the time she started school and she excelled academically however her interaction with her peers drew the attention of her teacher for an entirely differnt reason. She had trouble playing with the other children, would stand too close and touch them in ways that annoyed them and had a tendencey to mistake friendly actions for hostile ones(or vice versa) among other things. A psychologist was consulted and determined Winnifred to have Dyssemia As she got older, Winnifred's interaction with her peers improved marginally however she prefered spending time with her father in his resturant where she developed a true love of food and took on her father's other hobby of bee keeping. However tragedy would strike when Winnifred was 15 and her father died of a heart attack. Devestated by the loss and determined to try and fill the gaping hole within her, it was his death that triggered a compulsive eating habit. Also struck by the loss of her husband, as soon as Winnifred finished school Dorothy Edwards moved the two of them to Boston where she had grown up, hoping the change in location would benefit them both. This was not to be the case however as Winnifred suffered from increasing mood swings and began suffering from delusions that her father was still alive and hallucinations of him - accusing her mother of moving them to America so she wouldn't see her father again. Eventually she was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. When Winnifred was 23, following a major depressive episode where she attempted to commit suicide, her mother decided she could no longer handle caring for her daughter had her admitted to the Hundred Acre Care Facility. It was here where she met a young schizophrenic called Christopher Robin. Christopher had been admitted six months previously and had largely isolated himself from the other patients at the facility however he was immeadiatley drawn to Winnie. The two quickly became inseperable, with Winnifred eventually becoming a focal point of Christopher's delusions - giving her the nickname Pooh Bear, he believed that they were living in an actual wood and had a number of animal friends. Overtime, Winnie came to believe in his delusions in addition to hallucinations of woozles and heffalumps, creatures Christopher insisted lived in the woods. Not long after Christopher's 25th birthday, the two of them having been at the facility 5 years - Christopher decided they should go on a hunt for woozles. The two of them were in the grounds when an orderly found them and thinking the man was a woozle they attacked him. The orderly was largely unhurt but it was this incident that forced the doctors to take affirmative action. Deciding the two had to be seperated, it was determined that it would less damaging for Winnifred to move to another facility and so Dorothy Edwards approved her daughter's tranfer to Chesire Crossing. |
